Time’s nothing like a balloon, stretched
Out skin, ever emptying, gravity is when
Every trip ends with an impacted wreck.
And yet, and yet, what’s slow up at the front
But lightening-fast when it’s at your back?
What’s better, during or just after the hunt?
I’ll check later. Now it’s time for a Big Mac.
Drop a line, or more or none, that’s fine
And I’ll call when my zero grows a dime.
Twenty books published.
Considered “collectibles”.
$25.00 each (including postage and handling).
Send check, money order or cash (no credit cards)

I like the vivid immediacy, the zest of Philip Hackett’s poetry. The
freshness, his eye for detail, the lengthy descriptions, the tenderness.
He excels in evoking mood through detail. It can be lyrical or intensely terrifying.
But Hackett can also be very funny. There is a deeper and darker side to his worldview.
Hackett’s poetry is enriching in several ways. Read it.

FOR HACKETT
On my travels through The City
I met an Irishman
Who had honor and no money
His eyes were clear
He dreamed of butterflies and daffodils
And starsHe had no moneyBut had his dreams
Indian lost jews and potato Irish in the soup
A lady’s thighs glinted in the sun
His eyes would flash the eyes of Donegal
A leprchaun on a wild path
No end to man
No end to life
Just dancing down the street

I’ve known the poet Philip Hackett since 1961 when he lived in Nuremberg, Germany. And since, I have had the opportunity to collect signed copies of his 20 or more books of poetry. We actually met subsequently in Frankfurt and the Mojave Desert and I have loved Philip since the 1st day we met at the Schwarzwald. I wish he would write to me because every email I have sent recently to his Yahoo email gets returned to me almost instantly. However a friend sent me a newer email of his which is: hackettphilip694@gmail.com
